Giannis Antetokounmpo could make headlines during the offseason.

With the NBA season approaching a fitting conclusion, the speculations regarding what can transpire in the offseason are already picking up traction. Each team will explore the market to strengthen its squad, and rumors are rife that Giannis Antetokounmpo could be the biggest name that will steal all the headline spaces this offseason. The Greek Freak has stayed with the Milwaukee Bucks for the entirety of his career, and according to reports, he is open to putting the chapter behind him and finding a new challenge somewhere else.

Rockets Can Target Giannis Antetokounmpo

While Giannis is a player that every team would like to have, unfortunately, only a few would have the wherewithal to propose a deal to the Bucks to acquire the star forward. One such team that could emerge as a frontrunner should the Cameroonian be put up for sale would be the Houston Rockets.

The Rockets had a beguiling battle with the Golden State Warriors in the Round 1 playoffs. The series went down to the wire, where the Warriors edged out the Rockets after seven enthralling games. Not having a consistent scorer proved to be the deciding factor for the Bucks, and if they land Giannis, then they will be devoid of such an issue for a substantial period.

Shawn Marion joined last night’s Nightcap podcast to discuss what it would take to get Giannis to H-Town, and when told by host Shannon Sharpe that the Rockets were open to offering a package around Alperen Sengun, he said, “They’re gonna throw somebody else in that deal. I wouldn’t be surprised if they throw Jalen Green in that deal.”

To bring Giannis on board, the Rockets would have to give away something as well. The likes of Jalen Green and Amen Thompson may not be enough to secure the modern-day great, especially when if San Antonio Spurs or Oklahoma City Thunder enter the mix and present their interest. As the Rockets are already out on Devin Booker, they could go all-in to make the Giannis deal happen.
