India legendary cricketer Yuvraj Singh reckons that Virat Kohli will be the leading run scorer in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 considering his performance in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL). Kohli was the highest run-getter in IPL 2024. He scored 741 runs in just 15 matches with a strike rate of 154.69 including one century and five half-centuries.
Yuvraj also said that he is looking forward to see Rishabh Pant who is coming back from a long break because of injury. Pant recently featured in India's T20 World Cup warm-up clash where he smashed 53 runs in 32 balls before retiring out. Rohit Sharma & Co. won that match by 60 runs
I am looking forward to the return of Rishabh, he is coming back from a massive injury. And leading run-getter seems like Virat Kohli, he's had a very good IPL," said Yuvraj, who was at the opening of Fan Park in New York.
Team India last won an ICC title in 2013 where MS Dhoni-led India defeated England to win the final by five runs. Yuvraj has backed Rohit Sharma & Co. to end the ICC title drought by winning the 2024 T20 World Cup.
"I just feel that we played the World Cup 2007 final and we've been the qualifying semis and I think it's just a matter of time...I believe we have the self-belief of winning big tournaments. I think if India believes and backs themselves and play to their own strengths, I'm sure they'll go all the way. And that's what I believe in,"
Rohit Sharma & Co. will play their tournament opener against Ireland on June 5 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. After that Men in Blue will face arch rivals Pakistan on June 9 which will be played at the same venue.
