Young Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq breathed fire on November 30 (Wednesday) and forced seasoned international batters to surrender, including former No.1 ranked T20I batter David Malan. In the T10 league game between The Chennai Braves vs Team Abu Dhabi, the 23-year-old pacer dismissed Daniel Lawrence, Malan and Sikandar Raza for ducks in just the opening over of the game and orchestrated a seven-wicket win for Team Abu Dhabi.
Naveen-ul-Haq dismissed Lawrence and Raza for golden ducks while Malan could only survive for three balls. After being rocked in the first over, The Chennai Braves could never recover and managed a paltry score of 71/6 in 10 overs, with Vriitya Aravind (21 runs off 25 balls) top scoring for the side.
The Afghanistan pacer finished with phenomenal figures of 3/7 in two overs while Andrew Tye bagged two wickets in as many overs, conceding 14 runs in the process. Adil Rashid bagged one wicket at the expense of 13 runs.
Chasing a modest score, Team Abu Dhabi endured a similar start as their opponents, losing two wickets in the opening over and three in the first seven balls of their innings. Patrick Dooley dismissed Alex Hales for a two-ball duck and later sent James Vince back to the pavilion for a golden duck. Sam Cook struck in the first ball of his spell and sent Brandon King (1 run off three balls) to the hut.
Chris Lynn and Fabian Allen then combined for a 74-run stand for the fourth wicket as Abu Dhabi chased down the target with eight balls to spare. Lynn smacked four fours and two sixes in his unbeaten knock of 39 runs off 25 balls while Allen smashed three sixes and one four in his unbeaten knock of 33 runs in 21 balls.
