Indian opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal has expressed his admiration for team captain Rohit Sharma, highlighting the benefits of having an experienced leader like Rohit in the squad. India's recent victory over Afghanistan by 6 wickets at Indore's Holkar Stadium gave them a commanding 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series, also extending their unbeaten record against Afghanistan.

In the second match of the series, India effortlessly chased down the 173-run target. Returning from a minor injury, Jaiswal played a pivotal role in this achievement. He and Shivam Dube both notched up impressive half-centuries, enabling India to reach the target with 6 wickets in hand and 26 balls to spare.

Jaiswal, a rising star in Indian cricket, has made a remarkable entry into both the Test and T20I formats. In his short career so far, he has scored 316 runs across 4 Test matches, averaging 45.14, and accumulated 498 runs in 16 T20Is with an average of 35.57 and an impressive strike rate of 163.81.

In a video released by the BCCI, Jaiswal discussed the guidance he receives from Rohit, emphasising the captain's advice to play naturally. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn from such experienced players.

"He tell me to go out there and play my natural game. He asks me to play my shots. He's always there and he always looks after us. I think it's incredible to have a senior like him," said Jaiswal.

Jaiswal's performance in Indore was a testament to this advice, as he scored a dynamic 68 runs off just 34 deliveries, including five fours and six sixes.

Jaiswal also shared his thoughts on playing alongside Virat Kohli, describing it as both a pleasure and an honor. He remarked on the valuable partnership he formed with Kohli, where they put together a 57-run stand for the second wicket after Rohit Sharma's early dismissal in the first over.

"It's always a pleasure and honour to play with Virat bhaiya. We were having a conversation around where we can play and hit our shots," Jaiswal added.

This young player's rapid ascent in international cricket, his impressive performances, and the support from senior team members like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, paint a promising picture for his future in Indian cricket. As India continues its T20I series, Jaiswal's role as an opener and his burgeoning partnership with the team's veterans will be crucial for their continued success.
