India's star batter Virat Kohli wrapped up a brilliant Asia Cup campaign with a 71st century and a maiden T20I century as India thrashed Afghanistan by 101 runs in their final Super 4 game in Dubai on Thursday, September 9. During the mid-innings interview, Kohli was quick to talk about the unwavering support from his wife Anushka Sharma, who has been with him through thick and thin.
After the game, the prominent actress took to Instagram and penned a touching message for her husband, who silenced his critics with two half-centuries and one century in four matches in the Asia Cup.
After his swashbuckling century, Kohli dedicated the ton to actor and producer Anushka, for helping him through a tough mental phase. "It was an accumulation of a lot of things, as I said. When I came back into the team, the team's been really open and welcoming and helpful, giving me space to work on my game. I know there was a lot of stuff going on the outside but they really kept my perspective right, and I kissed my ring during the celebration as well.
"You see me standing here like this right now because all the things that have been put in perspective have been done by one person, who stood by me through all these difficult times, that's Anushka and this hundred is specially dedicated to her and our little daughter Vamika as well."
"As I said, when you have someone next to you putting the things in the right perspective as I have been, and Anushka has been by my side through all these times .. time away from the game taught me lot of things."
