WATCH: Rohit Sharma’s rare angry reaction to Arshdeep Singh dropping a sitter

Rohit Sharma could not hold back his anger after Arshdeep Singh’s costly drop in the 18th over of Pakistan’s run chase. Like most Indian fans watching the match, Rohit was hugely disappointed with Arshdeep dropping Asif Ali’s catch as it could have further tilted the game in their favour.

As expected, Arshdeep’s drop turned out to be a costly one. He had not scored a single run and Ravi Bishnoi was not letting him free his arms. Thanks to the drop, Asif managed to sneak a quick single and get off the mark.

In the penultimate over, Asif made India pay for the sloppy fielding. He hit Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a six over long-on. He hit another boundary off the final ball of the 19th over making the equation easy for Pakistan.

In the final over, he hit Arshdeep for a boundary as well before getting out leg before wicket. Eventually, Pakistan won the match off the penultimate delivery as Arshdeep bowled a low full toss in an attempt to land a yorker.

Apart from the dropped catch, Indian fielders were not quick enough as Pakistan batters converted ones into twos. The absence of an injured Ravindra Jadeja in the deep led to India leak runs. Virat Kohli leaving the field due to cramps further weakened India’s ground fielding.

It is not just about the Super 4 clash. In the ongoing year, India have a catch success percentage of 76% in T20Is. It is the worst bowling percentage for full-member sides as Indian fielders have dropped 32 out of 133 chances.

The dropped chances is a wake-up call for India who are considered favourites not just to win the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 but the T20 World Cup 2022 which will be played in Australia.
