India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have qualified for the Asia Cup Super 4 stage.The first match of the Super 4 stage will be played between Bangladesh and Pakistan on September 6.

After a week-long battle, four teams who made their way to the Super Fours stage of the 2023 Asia Cup are India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. On Tuesday, September 5, Sri Lanka secured their spot by narrowly beating Afghanistan by mere two runs in a thrilling contest. Sri Lanka notched a total of 291 runs on the board and in order to qualify for the Super 4 stage Afghanistan needed 292 runs in 37.1 overs. But Hashmatullah Shahidi's side were folded for 289 in 37.4 overs which denied them the coveted Super 4 spot.

 

Notably, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are the qualifying teams from Group B, while Pakistan and India have emerged from Group A.

The opening match of the Super Fours is scheduled for Wednesday, September 6, where Pakistan will face off against Bangladesh at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium. India, captained by Rohit Sharma, will clash with Pakistan on Sunday, September 10, in Colombo. Following that game, India will meet the defending champions Sri Lanka on Tuesday, September 12, and then take on Bangladesh, led by Shakib Al Hasan, on Friday, September 15—both matches to be held in Colombo. The final match of the Asia Cup 2023 will be hosted at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on September 17.

Pakistan and India — Group A

 

Pakistan secured the top spot in Group A and advanced to the Super 4 stage by beating Nepal in the opening match and gaining a point from a rained-out game against India. India also moved on to the next round, demolishing Nepal with a 10-wicket victory in a match shortened by rain. In Group A standings, Pakistan took the first position (A1), and India came in second (A2).

 

Bangladesh and Sri Lanak — Group B

 

Sri Lanka kicked off their run in Pallekele by securing a five-wicket win over Bangladesh. Bangladesh rebounded impressively, beating Afghanistan by a substantial 89 runs to make it to the Super 4s. In Lahore's final group game, Sri Lanka narrowly fended off a stellar batting performance from Mohammed Nabi to defeat Afghanistan by just two runs, earning them the top position in Group B and a spot in the Super 4s.

Venues for the Asia Cup Super 4 stage

 

Apart from Pakistan vs Bangladesh Super 4 match, which will take place on September 6 in Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium, the remaining five Super Fours matches will be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
