After Team India openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill came out all guns blazing and blew away Pakistan's bowling attack in a crunch Asia Cup Super 4s clash on September 10 (Sunday), skies opened up in Colombo and the match halted at the R Premadasa Stadium. The ground staff came in charging from the sidelines from all corners of the ground to cover the playing area as soon as possible.
Pakistan's star batter Fakhar Zaman understood the urgency of the moment and rushed to assist the ground staff. Fakhar was seen pulling the cover to the ground along with the ground staff.

Despite the best efforts from Fakhar and the ground staff, massive puddles were formed on the ground as the rain came down heavily.
At the time when rain intervened, India's score was 147/2 after 24.1 overs with Virat Kohli batting on eight runs off 16 balls and KL Rahul partnering his former skipper at 17 not out off 28 balls.
The start of the game was all about Rohit and Shubman, who batted exceptionally against the quality pace attack of Pakistan. The Indian captain scored his 50th half-century in ODIs after Shubman brought up his fifty. The duo registered a 121-run stand in 100 balls before Shadab Khan dismissed the Indian skipper. Rohit departed after scoring 56 runs off 49 balls with the help of six fours and four sixes.
Shaheen Afridi dismissed Shubman in the very next over as he outfoxed the Indian batter with a slower delivery. The right-handed batter departed after scoring 58 runs off 52 balls with the help of 10 fours.
