Former Australia cricketer Greg Blewett launched a vicious attack at Team India captain Rohit Sharma and claimed that the 'Hitman' is not worthy of leading the Men in Blue in ODI cricket. Blewett didn't stop there and made another scintillating remark, claiming that the only reason Rohit is part of the Indian ODI set-up is because he is the captain. Furthermore, the 51-year-old added that Rohit is not the right man to lead India to an ODI World Cup win in 2023.

"I am worried about India's ODI captain. I really am. Rohit Sharma is just clinging on, and I would have thought that India might have made a move by now on the one-day leadership. I just can see it going wrong again for India. They always get to these World Cups and they just don't get it done and I'm just not sure that Rohit is getting it done for them," said Blewett on  Willow Talk Cricket Podcast.

When asked about who should be India's leader in 50-over cricket, Blewett said Virat Kohli's time is over and he too won't be the right choice to captain the Men in Blue in ODIs. While the Aussie didn't name who could be the ideal successor for Rohit in ODIs, he remained certain about 'Hitman' not being the right option.

"Virat as leader? I think he is done and I don't know whether you can go back to him now. I don't know, I just see that Rohit is just hanging by a thread. He is getting a game at the moment because he is captain. And I don't know whether that's the right way to go," said Blewett.

Rohit is currently leading India at the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. After the continental competition, Rohit and India will participate in the much-awaited ODI World Cup at home. There is immense expectation from India to end their ICC trophy drought this time around, especially when they are going to play in familiar setting.
