Highlights:

Virat Kohli cracked a spellbinding 122 off 94 while KL Rahul smashes a robust 111 off 106.The duo stitched a colossal 233-run stand to guide India to their highest ever ODI total against Pakistan.

In an enthralling display of batting mastery on Monday, 10 September, India etched its name in the records by posting its all-time highest ODI score against arch-rivals Pakistan during the Asia Cup Super 4 clash held at the iconic R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. The scoreboard lit up to an impressive 356/2, a feat made possible by the scintillating centuries delivered by cricket maestros Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.

The batting luminaries wove a staggering partnership, amassing 233 runs between them, a masterclass that was in continuation from the previous day. Their innings was strategically crafted; making the most of Haris Rauf's absence on the Reserve Day, they piled on the runs with calculated intent up to the 40th over. KL Rahul was in his aggressive avatar from the outset, while Kohli unleashed his formidable batting prowess post the 40th over, racing to level with his partner.

Kohli, the erstwhile skipper of India, remained undefeated, tallying a swift 122 runs from just 94 deliveries, culminating his innings with a majestic six over long-on. His batting innings was sprinkled with 9 graceful boundaries and 3 towering sixes. KL Rahul, not to be outdone, embellished his innings with 12 exquisite boundaries and a couple of skyscraper sixes.

Casting our minds back to the innings' commencement on Sunday, the dynamic duo of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill had set the stage alight, conjuring a partnership exceeding 100 runs. While Kohli and KL Rahul exercised caution on Sunday in the face of some stellar bowling from Pakistan, Monday witnessed them in an unrestrained, explosive mode.

The Pakistan bowling arsenal, with the exception of Naseem Shah, seemed to lack the requisite firepower. Indian batsmen neutralized the threats of seam and swing with an effortless ease. Both Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed bore the brunt of the batting blitz from Rahul and Kohli, hemorrhaging 123 runs collectively in a span of 15.4 overs.

Reflecting on historical records, India's previous pinnacle ODI total against Pakistan mirrored the same score of 356 runs. However, this achievement dates back to 2005 in Vizag and was accrued at the loss of 9 wickets, making the recent accomplishment even more noteworthy. This batting display reaffirms India's dominance and showcases the immense potential that its cricketing stars bring to the global stage.
