In what came as fantastic news for Indian cricket fans, premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah returned to Sri Lanka and rejoined the Indian squad in Colombo. Bumrah rejoined the Indian squad in Colombo late night on September 7 (Thursday). The 29-year-old paceman had flown back to India in the middle of the ongoing Asia Cup for the birth of his first child. As a result, Bumrah missed India's final group-stage match against Nepal.
During India's match against Pakistan on September 2 (Saturday), the Indian pacer was part of the playing XI. Unfortunately, due to the match being washed out, he couldn't deliver even one bowl. However, Bumrah showcased his batting skills, contributing a quick 16 runs from just 14 balls, which included three boundaries. Impressively, this stands as Bumrah's highest score in ODI cricket.
Now, as India gets ready to square off against arch-rivals Pakistan once more, the return of Bumrah will definitely bolster their chances of triumphing over Babar Azam & Co. The Men in Blue and the Men in Green are scheduled to square off on September 10 (Sunday) in the Super 4s stage of the ongoing continental competition.
Bumrah, the acclaimed right-arm pacer, made a triumphant return to international cricket in the T20I series against Ireland, showcasing his prowess post-recovery from a challenging back injury. Notably, this series also marked his debut as the team's skipper in the shortest format of the game.
The 29-year-old cricket sensation had been sidelined for almost a year, grappling with persistent back issues. Following a necessary back surgery, Bumrah embarked on a rigorous rehabilitation journey at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
After making a comeback, Bumrah is yet to bowl in ODI cricket. The ardent cricket followers are waiting to watch the right-arm pacer bowl a complete quota of 10 overs in an ODI match. Bumrah was also named in India's ODI World Cup squad recently.
