Helping India chase down a modest target of 97, Varma showcased his prowess, ensuring a resounding nine-wicket victory for the team, which took them a step closer to the gold-medal match.

After hitting a six that took him past the 50-run mark, Varma's unique celebration caught everyone's attention. He later revealed that the gesture was a heartfelt dedication to his mother. After experiencing a dry spell in his performances, he had made a promise to her: to either notch up a half-century or be instrumental in an Indian victory.

In a touching addition, Varma shared that his tribute also included Rohit Sharma's young daughter, Samaira. This wasn't the first time Varma had celebrated in her honor. During his inaugural T20I half-century on the West Indies tour, he had similarly dedicated his achievement to Samaira.

Coming back to the match, after winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Team India showcased its bowling might, restricting Bangladesh to a mere 96/9 in their stipulated 20 overs.

Indian bowler Sai Kishore was the standout performer, scalping 3 key wickets for a paltry 12 runs in his 4-over spell. His crucial dismissals included top-order stalwarts Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Afif Hossain Dhrubo, and Shahadat Hossain Dipu. Washington Sundar further tightened the noose, clinching the wickets of vital players Saif Hassan and Zakir Hasan during the powerplay.

For Bangladesh, Parvez Hossain Emon's stable 23-run knock and Rakibul Hasan's explosive 14 off 6 balls provided some solace, pushing the team's total closer to a three-figure mark.

While India's chase began with a slight hiccup with Ripon Mondal removing Yashasvi Jaiswal, the subsequent onslaught by Tilak Varma and Ruturaj Gaikwad ensured India's control over the match. Their fiery 50-run partnership came off just 18 deliveries. Varma, with his whirlwind unbeaten 55 off 26 balls, peppered the ground with two fours and six maximums. Gaikwad, playing the perfect partner, crafted an unyielding 40 not-out off 26, showcasing his class and finesse.

Completing the chase with a whopping 64 balls to spare, India's formidable display certifies them as a team to watch out for in the tournament, amplifying their title contender credentials.
