Riyan Parag takes indirect dig after not receiving maiden T20I call-up, writes 'Mausam banana apna kaam hai, badal...'

Riyan Parag has been in sublime form of late in the T20 format.

India’s T20I squad for five-T20I Australia series was announced on November 21. Suryakumar Yadav was named captain of a second-string side in the absence of key players including an injured Hardik Pandya. A few days before the squad was announced, there were reports that Assam all-rounder Riyan Parag is under the radar of selectors and may receive his maiden T20I call-up. However, Parag did not find a place in the T20I squad for the series which will kick-off on November 23. 
 

After facing another, Yuzvendra Chahal took to his X account and shared a smiling emoji whereas Parag took an indirect dig as he gears up for the Vijay Hazare Trophy which will start on November 23 as well.

Parag tweeted: “Mausam banana apna kaam hai ab badal garje ya na garje usse hame kya (It is our job to create the conditions, we don't care whether the clouds thunder or not) #VHT lesgooo”.

Parag had a sensational run in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2023 and carried his side to the semifinal. He scored a record-breaking seven consecutive half-centuries. He finished as the top run-scorer of the tournament with 510 runs from 10 innings at an average of 85. His strike rate was an impressive 182.79. He hit 40 sixes, the most by any batter in the tournament. Parag was impressive with the ball too. He took 11 wickets and conceded runs at 7.29 runs per over.
 

The 22-year-old will be seen in action as Assam go up against Mahajan Cricket Academy Ground, IT Park, Chandigarh on November 23 in a Group D clash.
 

Meanwhile, India will begin their preparations for the T20 World Cup 2024 which will be played in the Caribbean and the USA.
