Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Suryakumar scripts history in 1st Test vs Australia, becomes only Indian cricketer to achieve this milestone

Suryakumar Yadav scripted history on his Test debut in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series opener in Nagpur on Thursday (February 9) that too without even playing a single ball. After former India's star all-rounder Ravi Shastri handed him a Test Cap, Suryakumar became the first Indian cricketer in history to make his debut in all three formats after turning 30.

The 32-year-old flamboyant batter first dazzled in the domestic cricket then replicated his stunning show in in the T20Is for India which finally earned him the Test call-up for the marquee Border-Gavaskar series.

When it comes to First Class cricket, Yadav has enormous experience and most importantly, the stats to back his case. In 79 First Class matches, the cricketer has scored 5549 runs but despite so, he wasn’t in India’s scheme of things in red-ball cricket for a long time. However, the wait finally ended as he made his Test debut against Australia in the first Test at Nagpur on February 9.

ODI debut at 30 years, 10 months & 4 days
Test debut at 32 years, 4 months & 26 days

Meanwhile KS Bharat also made the Test debut for India alongside Suryakumar in the Nagpur Test. The wicketkeeper-batter was waiting in the wings for a long time as Pant and Wriddhiman Saha were the first-choice keepers for India after MS Dhoni’s retirement.
