In a big news for the Indian cricket Team, their pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has undergone a successful surgery in New Zealand. Bumrah, who has been out of cricket for quite a long time now, is expected to take around six months to recover and finally hit the nets.
The surgery was carried out by renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Rowan Schouten, who has previously treated cricketers like James Pattinson and Jofra Archer, among others. According to the report, Dr Schouten's name was recommended to the BCCI by Shane Bond, former Kiwi pacer who is now a bowling coach of Mumbai Indians, the team that Bumrah plays for in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Going by Bumrah's recovery time, he won't be able to play the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-2023 finals and the Asia Cup 2023, but he might be ready for the ODI World Cup, which India is set to host in October-November. Bumrah will miss the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL)
Bumrah has struggled with a troubled back since last year, which has kept him out of action from important assignments like the 2022 Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia. He has not played any competitive cricket since September last year.
However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to come out with any official statement regarding Bumrah return.
