Babar Azam is the leading run-scorer in BPL 2024.

Babar scored 47 runs from 43 balls against Durdanto Dhaka.

Former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has been in fine form in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024. During the clash between Rangpur Riders and Durdanto Dhaka, Babar showed sportsmanship when he refused to take the extra run after a throw hit his bat and went towards the short fine leg.

The incident took place in the 12th over of the innings. Babar was batting with Shakib Al Hasan. Chaturanga de Silva bowled a half-tracker to Babar who pulled it towards deep mid-wicket. The fielder may have been on target with the throw but it hit Babar on the bat as he tried to make his way back to the crease. Babar did not go for the extra run but in follow-through ran to the short fine leg position to pick up the ball and give it to the fielder.

The video of Babar’s gesture is making rounds on the internet.

A few overs later, Babar failed to reach his half-century. He was dismissed by Mosaddek Hossain. Gulbadin Naib took an easy catch at deep backward square leg position. He scored 47 runs from 43 balls including five boundaries.

Earlier, he shared a 67-run opening partnership with Rony Talukdar who scored 39 runs from 24 balls featuring six fours and a six. Shakib hit three sixes before getting dismissed for 20-ball 34 by Mosaddek in the 15th over.

Azmatullah Omarzai failed to make a mark with the bat as he scored just three runs from seven balls. Sabbir Hossain took his catch off his bowling. In the slog overs, captain Nurul Hasan and Mohammad Nabi's unbeaten cameos helped Rangpur Riders post 175/4. Hasan scored 16 runs from 10 balls whereas Nabi smashed three maximums in his 16-ball 29.
