India scored 376 runs in 1st innings against Bangladesh.

Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was spotted biting down on a piece of thread while batting against India in the first innings of the first Test match at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. As Shakib faced the bowler, he seemed to be biting down on the strap of his helmet in a peculiar setup. However, upon closer inspection, it became clear that the strap was securely in place, and Shakib was actually chewing on a different piece of thread.

The Bangladesh star all-rounder let the cloth drop from his mouth when he reached the non-striker's end, suggesting that this was likely part of his routine only during the bowler's run-up.

During the broadcast, Dinesh Karthik explained the unusual routine, shared with him by Shakib's former teammate Tamim Iqbal. Karthik revealed that Tamim indicated it served as a cue for Shakib to keep his helmet aligned with the bowler, helping him maintain focus, at least mentally if not physically.
