There have only been 35 overs of the game as of now.

The 2nd Test match which is currently underway between Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team and  Najmul Hossain Shanto's Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur has only witnessed the play of 35 overs across three days. Weather and rain have played a major role in this clash and not only washed out most of Day 1 and the whole of Day 2 but its effect resulted in a wet outfield which forced the officials to call off Day 3 of the Test match as well without a single ball being bowled.

India is currently leading the series 1-0 after their dominant victory in the first Test in Chennai and currently, this Test appears to be heading towards a draw which means, the hosts will be sealing the series 1-0. This will be a major boost ahead of their upcoming red-ball series against New Zealand and Australia away from home. However, they were eyeing some more game time before those crucial series which has largely been affected by rain in this series.

As of now, Bangladesh is batting on 107/3 in 35 overs and that has been the digit on the scoreboard since the early stumps on Day 1. However, the weather forecast predicts much better news for the remaining two days. Hopefully, there will be some play in the next two days but even after that promising a result would be way too difficult. There is a very slight chance of rain on Monday and Tuesday but if it does again affect the match, it would then be heading towards an inevitable draw.

Akash Deep was looking in great touch for the hosts as he dismissed both Bangladesh openers in the opening session of this match and gave them a good position early in the match itself. Ravichandran Ashwin then dismissed captain Najmul Hossain Shanto post-lunch before early stumps were called.
