Perth Scorchers set the stage on fire in match 13 of the Big Bash League (BBL) as they came out as winners in the clash against Adelaide Strikers. In this one-sided contest played at the Sydney Showground Stadium, it was the western Australian side who appeared victorious.

Collin Munro was the architect-in-chief for the win as he scored the first hundred of the BBL season. Perth registered a 49-run win to continue their unbeaten run.

Batting first, a near-perfect start for the Scorchers gave them the required momentum. Openers Munro and Cameron Bancroft put up an opening stand of 132-runs. Munro was in sensational form as he scored 114 off 73 deliveries with the help of 8 fours and 6 sixes.

The bowlers were all over the place as none of the Adelaide bowlers were successful enough to stop the unstoppable flow of runs. To be most precise, not a single bowler managed to pick up even a wicket. The only wicket of the Perth innings was a run out in the 16th over when Bancroft departed for 45 off 37 deliveries.

Afghan bowler Rashid Khan bowled four overs and conceded 40 runs and Australia’s Peter Siddle on the other hand, conceded 46 runs.

In reply, Adelaide’s opener Matthew Short made a solid start and scored 63 off 47 deliveries. Bowlers Jason Behrendorff and Andrew Tye picked up three wickets each to bundle out the Adelaide-side for 146.

Thomas Kelly, in the middle seemed to be on track but could not do anything fruitful after he was dismissed for 26 off 15 balls.

Munro for his heroics with the bat was rightly handed the ‘Man of the Match’ award as the New Zealand all-rounder eyes a return back to the international fold.

The Perth Scorchers will next be in action on Tuesday (December 14) against Hobart Hurricanes while Adelaide take on Sydney Strikers at the SCG on Tuesday (December 21) as they try to get back on track.
