Haris Rauf records embarrassing feat in Champions Trophy after getting hammered by NZ batters left, right and centre
Despite taking two wickets against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy 2025, Haris Rauf's 10-over spell proved costly, conceding 83 runs.

Haris Rauf didn't have the best of the outing in Pakistan's Champions Trophy campaign opener against New Zealand at the Karachi Stadium on February 19.

Haris Rauf's participation in this match was uncertain due to an injury that had sidelined him for the final of the preceding tri-series against New Zealand.

Despite the earlier injury concerns, Haris Rauf was included in Pakistan's playing XI against New Zealand, providing a significant boost to the team and its fans. However, his performance with the ball was subpar, contributing to Pakistan matching an undesirable record.

While Haris Rauf did manage to take two wickets against New Zealand, his expensive spell of 10 overs cost Pakistan 83 runs and thus he clocked an embarrassing feat

With this expensive spell, the right-arm fast bowler became only the second Pakistani bowler to concede over 80 runs in a single innings of a Champions Trophy match. This also means Pakistan now shares the unfortunate record with South Africa and Sri Lanka for having the most bowlers who have conceded more than 80 runs in a Champions Trophy innings.

Wahab Riaz is the only other Pakistani bowler to have conceded more than 80 runs in a Champions Trophy innings. He holds the unfortunate record for the most expensive spell in Champions Trophy history, having given away 87 runs against India in Birmingham in 2017.
