Virat Kohli set to become first player in the World to unlock this mega milestone in his first match of Champions Trophy 2025
Virat Kohli is on the verge of achieving a towering milestone in the ICC Champions Trophy. Just 37 runs away, he is poised to join Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara in an exclusive club of players. Importantly, Kohli is projected to reach this milestone faster than either of the other two legends.

All eyes will be on Virat Kohli in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. Kohli recently found his mojo back with a brilliant half century in the third ODI against England to bring a halt to his batting struggles.

Virat Kohli's status as an ODI legend remains secure, and despite a recent lack of big scores, he will be a key player for India in the ICC Champions Trophy. A strong performance from Kohli in the tournament would significantly enhance India's chances of lifting the trophy.

Virat Kohli is poised to break a major ODI world record during the Champions Trophy. Having already amassed 13,963 runs in 285 innings, he needs just 37 more runs to become the first player to reach 14,000 runs in under 300 innings. He has 15 innings to achieve this milestone, and could even break the record in India's opening match of the tournament against Bangladesh.

Only two other batsmen, Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara, have reached the 14,000-run mark in ODI cricket. Tendulkar achieved this feat in his 350th innings, while Sangakkara took 378 innings.

Virat Kohli, with 529 runs in 13 Champions Trophy matches, has the opportunity to surpass Shikhar Dhawan as India's highest run-scorer in the tournament's history. Dhawan currently holds the record with 701 runs from 10 matches, meaning Kohli needs to score 173 runs to take the lead.

If Virat Kohli scores 263 runs in the Champions Trophy, he will also have a chance to become the tournament's all-time leading run-scorer. Currently, that record is held by Chris Gayle, who has scored 791 runs in the competition.
