CWG 2022: Harjinder Kaur wins bronze medal, takes India's medal tally to 9

Weightlifter Harjinder Kaur has won a bronze medal in the women's 71 kg category at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022. Harjinder lifted a total of 212 kg (93 kg snatch and 119 kg clean and jerk) to help take India's tally of medals in weightlifting events to seven.
 

Harjinder fouled in the first attempt but did not err in the rest of his attempts. England's Sarah Davies won the gold medal as he achieved Games record. Sarah lifted a total of 229 kg (103 kg snatch and 126 kg clean and jerk). Canada's Alexis Ashworth won the silver medal with a total of 214 kg (91 kg snatch and 123 kg clean and jerk).

 

Daughter of a farmer in Nabha, Punjab, Harjinder started weighlifting in 2016 in Punjab University. Five years later, she joined the Indian National Camp Patiala on August 2021.
