India's women's team confirmed their place in the semifinals of the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022 after a 100-run victory over Barbados led by stormy innings of 56 runs by Jemimah Rodrigues and some deadly bowling by Renuka Singh, who picked up four wickets and gave away four wickets as well.

Having lost to Australia in the first match, they did well to beat Pakistan in the second match. Having now beaten Barbados as well, India are now among the teams in contention for a medal. However, both Barbados and Pakistan are out of the ongoing event.

All-round brilliance
Jemimah scored 56 runs in 46 balls, which allowed India to reach a challenging target of 163 runs. But, in response, Barbados had a poor start and were five wickets down for just 32 runs in the ninth over. This did not end the fall of wickets, however, and the entire Barbados team was reduced to 62 runs in their 20 overs.

The brilliance of Jemimah Rodrigues
The Indian team, sent to bat first, did not start well after Smriti Mandhana lost her wicket in the second over with only five runs were on the score board. After this, Jemimah and Shafali shared a 71-run partnership for the second wicket. The duo put up particularly aggressive innings, with Shafali scoring 43 runs in 26 balls with the help of seven fours and a six.

She returned to the pavilion after being run out. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur was dismissed for a golden duck.

Taniya Bhatia, who came in place of Yastika Bhatia, also returned to the pavilion after scoring six runs. After this, Jemimah and Deepti Sharma took command of their innings. Deepti remained unbeaten on 34 off 28 balls with two fours and a six to her name. At the same time, Jemimah scored 56 runs in 46 balls, which included six fours and a six.
