Captain of the South Delhi Superstarz Ayush Badoni delivered a remarkable performance in the Delhi Premier League 2024. His display of power hitting against the West Delhi Lions at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on August 25th will be remembered for years. Badoni's most impressive moment came in the 8th over, where he hit four consecutive sixes off Hrithik Shokeen. This incredible feat showcased his exceptional batting skills and ability to dominate the bowling.

 

The carnage began with Shokeen's right-arm offbreak deliveries. Badoni, displaying his aggressive intent, ruthlessly punished the bowler. On the first ball of the over, a flighted delivery on off-stump was dispatched over deep midwicket for a maximum. Badoni's intent was evident as he knelt down and executed a flawless slog sweep.

The next delivery, also tossed up on length, met a similar fate as Badoni heaved it over the long-on region. The crowd erupted as Badoni's powerful stroke cleared the boundary effortlessly. On the fifth ball, a flighted delivery on middle stump was met with a well-timed strike over the long-on boundary for another six.

Finally, the sixth ball saw Badoni dance down the pitch and send the ball soaring over the bowler's head for his fourth consecutive six. The over yielded a remarkable 26 runs, highlighting Badoni's dominance and skill. Ayush Badoni's innings concluded with an impressive 57 runs off just 28 balls. 

 

How the match unfolded?

 

Earlier, West Delhi Lions won the toss and elected to bowl first. The South Delhi Superstarz openers, Priyansh Arya and Sarthak Ray, formed a solid partnership, scoring 52 runs from 28 balls before Ray was dismissed for 22 by Deepak Punia. Priyansh Arya continued to impress, scoring 45 runs from 26 balls with five boundaries and two sixes. Captain Ayush Badoni's brilliant innings set the stage for South Delhi to reach a high total, contributing 57 runs from 28 balls. Later in the innings, Tejaswi Dahiya stole the spotlight with an explosive performance, scoring 57 runs from 23 balls, including three boundaries and six sixes. Dahiya's contribution helped South Delhi Superstarz finish at 228-4 in their allotted 20 overs.

 

In reply, West Delhi Lions were reduced to 159 as they suffered a 69-run defeat against South Delhi Superstarz despite Ankit Kumar's lightning 24-ball 47.
