Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah faced disciplinary action after an incident involving England's Ollie Pope during the first Test in Hyderabad. Bumrah was reprimanded and received a demerit point for deliberately obstructing Pope's path, resulting in "inappropriate physical contact." This action falls under a Level 1 offence according to the ICC Code of Conduct.

The specific rule that Bumrah breached is Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which pertains to inappropriate physical contact during international matches. This incident marked Bumrah's first offence within a 24-month period, leading to the addition of one demerit point to his disciplinary record.

"The incident occurred in the 81st over of England’s second innings, when Bumrah, after completing his follow through, deliberately stepped in Ollie Pope's way as the batter went for a run, leading to inappropriate physical contact," the ICC said in a release.

Match referee Richie Richardson proposed the sanction against Bumrah, which the Indian pacer accepted, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.
