Umesh Yadav has taken 18 wickets in three matches in the ongoing Ranji Trophy.

India's pace bowler Umesh Yadav expressed his sentiments following his exclusion from the Team India squad for the final three Tests against England. Umesh Yadav shared a cryptic post on his Instagram account, shedding light on his disappointment.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed India's squad for the last three Tests against England on Saturday, February 10. Akash Deep received his maiden India call-up, while Jasprit Bumrah, Mukesh Kumar, and Mohammed Siraj retained their places in India's Test squad.

With the announcement of the squad for the final three Tests against England, Umesh was left heartbroken after not finding his name in the fold. The bowler appeared disheartened by his omission from the team, particularly in light of his commendable performances in the Ranji Trophy.

Umesh Yadav has showcased exceptional form in the 2024 Ranji Trophy. Representing Vidarbha, the speedster has demonstrated his prowess by claiming 18 wickets in merely three matches, solidifying his status as one of the premier fast bowlers heading into the tournament.

Umesh Yadav's cryptic post

Having been left out of the India squad for the final three Tests against England, Umesh Yadav took to social media to share a cryptic message. He posted a statement on his Instagram story which read, “Kitaabon par dhool jamne se, Kahaaniyan khatm nai hoti (Just because the books are covered with dust the stories won’t stop).”

Despite delivering sensational performances in the Ranji Trophy, Umesh Yadav found himself overlooked by the selectors. The fast bowler's last appearance for India was in the final of the ICC World Test Championship 2023 against Australia, where he struggled to make an impact.

Following the defeat in the ICC World Test Championship, Umesh Yadav, along with Cheteshwar Pujara, was axed from the team. The emergence of young talents like Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, and others further complicates Yadav's prospects of making a comeback.

Umesh Yadav's Remarkable Performance in Home Tests

Umesh Yadav has showcased brilliance in India's home Test matches, proving instrumental on spin-friendly pitches. His contributions have been pivotal in several memorable victories for the Indian team on home soil.

The fast bowler has played a significant role in India's success in home Tests, consistently troubling opposition batsmen with his pace on spin-friendly surfaces, marking a highlight of his career.

In the 32 Tests played in India, Umesh Yadav has amassed 101 wickets. He has also secured two five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket haul in a match. Across 57 matches, he has claimed a total of 170 wickets, maintaining an average of approximately 30, alongside three five-wicket hauls.

Eager to make a more significant impact in the Ranji Trophy 2024, Umesh Yadav understands the necessity of delivering exceptional performances to bolster his chances of rejoining the Indian team. His future with the team remains uncertain, and it remains to be seen what lies ahead for the talented fast bowler.
