Former India's star all-rounder Irfan Pathan lavished praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal, drawing parallels between the young opener's playing style and that of ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly. The ongoing Test series between India and England has been a standout moment for the 22-year-old Jaiswal. Jaiswal turning heads with his batting exploits

His batting resilience and composed demeanor have been hot topics among cricket pundits ever since his significant contribution to India's victory in the second Test. Many have already hailed him as one of the emerging stars within the Indian cricket team. Jaiswal showcased his ability to switch between aggressive and cautious play, demonstrated by his attacking innings of 80 in the first innings of the Hyderabad Test and his meticulously crafted double century in the first innings of the Visakhapatnam Test. As the series progresses to the third Test in Rajkot, Jaiswal emerges as one of the focal points for England's strategy.

Yashasvi Jaiswal's Off-Side Game Resembles Dada's Style

During a public event aired by Star Sports, Irfan Pathan drew attention to the resemblance between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sourav Ganguly in their off-side batting abilities. The former fast bowler expressed confidence in Jaiswal's potential for a successful career with the senior national team, emphasizing his remarkable journey from humble beginnings to success.

"There's one player who I'm excited for, he is Yashasvi Jaiswal. Now, it has to be seen how he performs in IPL. What an exciting player he is… He possesses the off-side game, just like Dada (Sourav Ganguly). Just like we used to see him and say, 'He's the king of the off-side'," Irfan said.

"If he goes on to play for the next 10 years, we will speak about his game as much as we spoke about Dada's. Jaiswal is that kind of a player…And now he has scored a double hundred in international hundred and he has a great background story," Pathan added.

Jaiswal, India's preferred opener in India's Test fold

Yashasvi Jaiswal has cemented his position as the preferred opener in the Indian Test team, offering the squad the coveted left-right partnership at the beginning of their batting lineup. With Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer absent in Rajkot Test, Yashasvi will bear the responsibility of leading the charge in scoring at the top of the order.
