Virat Kohli on cusp of scripting history in ODI series vs England, set to become fastest batter in the World to taste this glory

Virat Kohli will return to national duty in the upcoming ODI series against England after his dismal run in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series against Australia.

With the Champions Trophy on the horizon, this ODI series carries significant weight.  Much attention will be focused on Virat Kohli, who will be looking to rediscover his form after a subpar performance in his recent Ranji Trophy match against Railways, where he scored just 6 runs in his lone innings.

Virat Kohli, widely regarded as one of the best ODI batsmen of the modern era, is poised to make history in the upcoming series. He is just 96 runs shy of reaching the 14,000-run milestone in ODIs.  Upon achieving this feat, Kohli will become the fastest batsman in the world to reach this impressive mark.

Only two batsmen, Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara, have surpassed the 14,000-run mark in ODI cricket.  Tendulkar reached the milestone in 350 innings, while Sangakkara took 378 innings to achieve the same feat.

Virat Kohli's ODI record is exceptional. He has amassed 13,906 runs in just 283 innings, averaging an impressive 58.18.  His batting prowess is further highlighted by his 50 centuries and 72 half-centuries.  Kohli currently holds the record for the most ODI centuries.  In 2018, he also became the fastest batsman to reach the 10,000-run mark in ODI cricket, demonstrating his consistent excellence in the format.

The three-match ODI series between India and England is set to begin on Thursday, February 6th, with the first match taking place in Nagpur.  The series will then move to Cuttack for the second ODI on February 9th, followed by the final match in Ahmedabad on February 12.
