Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria did not hold back in his criticism of Shan Masood-led side after their historic defeat at Multan Cricket Stadium by an innings and 47 runs to England. Kaneria went on to say that he feels like abusing the Pakistan player. He also questioned whether all the spinners in Pakistan are dead. He came down heavily on pacers for not being able to clock over 140 kmph regularly. Also, he lashed out at Babar Azam who did not score a half-century despite Multan being a batting-friendly track.
"I feel like abusing them. You conceded 800+ runs. Even I have played cricket on such dead tracks. Where is our reverse swing? Where is our bouncers? Where are our spinners? It seems like all the spinners in Pakistan have died. Even fast bowlers are finished. There is not even a single bowler who could've clocked 140 kmph, let alone 150 kmph. Babar Azam is twerking on such lifeless tracks," Kaneria said on his YouTube channel.
Kaneria compares Abrar to club cricket spinners
Kaneria said that the Pakistan team has never been humiliated like this and it is no less than funeral of the sport in the country. He went on to compare Abrar Ahmed to spinners in Pakistan’s club cricket. Abrar bowled a total of 35 overs, conceded 174 runs and remained wicketless. While he remaiend wicketless, part-time spinners Agha Salman and Saim Ayub got one and two wickets respectively. Abrar was later admitted to the hospital and didn’t come to bat on Day 5.
"Pakistan's club cricket is full of bowlers like Abrar. What kind of a mystery spinner is he? It's beyond my understanding. You guys have ruined Pakistan cricket. We used to be a top-ranked team, but now we are bottom of the pile. Even we played on such tracks. Never got humiliated like this. Who will take the responsibility? You guys can't even show your face in public. This is a global mockery. The funeral of Pakistan cricket has taken place," he added.
Kaneria’s Test numbers
Kaneria represented Pakistan in 61 Tests and took 261 wickets at an average of 34.79. In home conditions, he has 109 wickets from 25 Tests including six five-wicket hauls.
