The run-machine Virat Kohli finally busted the legendary Sachin Tendulkar's record of most ODI tons as India's superstar batter notched the historic 50th century in the One Day Internationals in the World Cup 2023's semifinal against New Zealand at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday, November 15.
Kohli took just 279 innings to crack his 50th hundred. Kohli went on to score 117 off 113 riding on nine fours and two sixes to help India post a mammoth total of 397/4. Besides 35-year-old's stunning century, what caught everyone's attention was the way his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma reacted on his husband's landmark knock.
Kohli reached the three-figure mark with a double, and the batting juggernaut leaped in joy. As the cameras panned towards Anushka, she was seen showering flying kisses to husband, her face beaming with pride and excitement as she watched Kohli bust Tendulkar's world record. Kohli, in turn, responded with a flying kiss of his own, sending a loving gesture to his wife.

Kohli also shattered Tendulkar's another big record as he went on to become the batter with most runs in a single edition of an ODI World Cup. He went past Tendulkar's 673-run mark and now has 711 runs against his name.
Also this was 35-year-old's eighth 50-plus knock in the ODI World Cup 2023, which is also the most by any batter in a single edition of the showpiece event. Kohli surpassed the previous record of seven fifty-plus scores, a record that was jointly held by Sachin in 2003 and Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan in 2019. Riding on his fine knock, the star no.3 batter also leapfrogged Australia's Ricky Ponting in terms of most ODI runs. Ponting amassed a total of 13,704 ODI runs while has so far garnered more than 13794 runs in the One Day Internationals.
