India, vying for their third ODI World Cup title in what was their fourth final appearance, fell short in their quest.

Travis Head's stunning century, combined with Marnus Labuschagne's solid batting, turned the tide in Australia's favor.

Australian opener David Warner expressed his apologies to an Indian fan on social media platform 'X', following Australia's triumph in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 final. The Australian team clinched their sixth ODI World Cup title, defeating India by six wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Responding to a fan's comment on 'X' about breaking billions of hearts with their victory in the final, Warner showed his empathetic side. In a closely contested match on Sunday, November 19, Australia successfully chased down a target of 241 runs, sealing their win with six wickets in hand.

"I apologise, it was such a great game and the atmosphere was incredible. India really put on a serious event. Thank you all," Warner posted on 'X'.

Warner, a key player for Australia, had an exceptional ODI World Cup, amassing 535 runs across 11 matches. This feat placed him alongside India's captain Rohit Sharma as one of the only two players to score over 500 runs in consecutive ODI World Cups. In the final, however, Warner's contribution was brief, scoring 7 runs off 3 balls before being dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah.

India, vying for their third ODI World Cup title in what was their fourth final appearance, fell short in their quest. Despite the collective efforts of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, who both scored half-centuries, and a rapid 47 from Rohit Sharma, India could only set a target of 240.

The match saw an exciting phase when India's pacers, in the initial overs of the second innings, managed to dismiss Warner, Mitchell Marsh, and Steve Smith, sparking hope for the hosts.

However, Travis Head's stunning century, combined with Marnus Labuschagne's solid batting, turned the tide in Australia's favor. The duo's formidable 192-run partnership for the fourth wicket played a pivotal role in guiding Australia to a historic win, extending their record as the most successful team in ODI World Cup history.
