Shreyas Iyer deposited a 106 metre six during India vs Sri Lanka's ODI World Cup match.

Highlights:

Shreyas Iyer's 106m six was the longest six of the ongoing ODI World Cup.

Shreyas took Sri Lankan bowlers to cleaners and hammered a scintillating 82 off 56 to help India post a big total of 357/8. Shreyas' lightning knock was adorned with six big maximums and three fours. But out of the six sixes that he smashed the longest was the 106 metre maximum which he deposited in the stands. But it was not his monstrous six which caught the attention of the fans but the place where maximum landed. Apparently, it was the biggest six of the ongoing World Cup.

The star batter went after Rajitha in the 34th over, hitting a boundary and a six. In the subsequent over, he dispatched Dusan Hemantha for a maximum, and then unleashed a colossal 106m six off Rajitha in the 36th over which landed straight at the stands near Dhanashree and Ritika Sajdeh which saw them running for life. In a video which took no time to take social media by storm, everyone can be seen running away for cover.

Notably, Yuzvendra Chahal along with his wife Dhanashree and Rohit Sharma's better half Ritika came to cheer Team India in the World Cup clash against Sri Lanka.

Iyer held the record for the longest six in this tournament after he smashed a 101-metre six against Afghanistan. However, Glenn Maxwell surpassed his feat after a 104-metre six against New Zealand. Shreyas then went one notch ahead and cracked the longest six of the ongoing tournament.

Not just this, Shreyas also equalled Shikhar Dhawan's record as he became just the joint-second fastest Indian batsman to amass 2000 ODI runs.

Shreyas achieved the rare feat in his 48th innings to place his name alongside Dhawan, who also took the same number of innings to notch 2000 ODI runs back in 2014.

Notably, India's batting sensation Shubman Gill holds the record of cracking the fastest 2000 ODI runs as he bagged this milestone in mere 38 innings in the World Cup clash against New Zealand.

Gill shattered Hashim Amla's record to taste the glory. Amla took 40 innings to complete his 2000 ODI runs in 2011.
