Pakistan opening batter Imam-ul-Haq is looking forward to the contest against India and even revealed that he and captain Babar Azam have dreamt about the prospect of playing against India in India.

"Playing in India, especially against India and doing something special (was something) which Babar and I were discussing before 2010," Imam said during a chat with Pakistan’s YouTube channel Grassroots Cricket.

“I really believe our one-day team is the most compatible and balanced team. The combination is similar to 2019. Whenever you give opportunities to players, performances will come. We have chased 350 here (in Pakistan), we’ve scored 330 in South Africa, we won the series there.

"So yes, everybody is excited. A bit nervous as well, I won’t lie. This team can do wonders, and it would be good for our nation if we win the World Cup in India," he added.

Since the time International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled the 2023 World Cup schedule, Indian and Pakistan cricket fans have marked their calendars for the most mouthwatering fixture of the tournament. India and Pakistan are scheduled to lock horns on October 15 at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. The two arch-rivals are likely to renew their rivalry in front of more than one lakh fans in the stadium with over a billion people watching it on televisions across the world.

As per the schedule, the Men in Green are slated to play their nine matches across five venues in India. Pakistan will play two matches each in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata while the marquee contest between India and Pakistan is scheduled to take place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15.

Before the World Cup, India and Pakistan are also scheduled to cross swords in an Asia Cup match in Sri Lanka.
