This milestone is a testament to his exceptional batting skills and consistency on the international stage.

 

Rohit Sharma's incredible achievement saw him surpass the previous record-holder, Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan, who have amassed 743 runs from 19 innings in 50-over World Cup chases. Meanwhile Rohit Sharma has accumulated a staggering 771 runs in just 13 innings highlighting his batting might.

Joining an elite group of cricketing legends, Rohit Sharma now stands as the highest run-scorer in ODI World Cup chases, solidifying his reputation as one of the most accomplished batters in the world. The illustrious list of top run-scorers in this category also includes Arjuna Ranatunga (727), Stephen Fleming (692), and Brian Lara (681), all of whom have left an indelible mark on the cricketing world.

 

Moreover, Rohit Sharma's exceptional performance in the ODI World Cup has elevated him to the position of the fourth-highest run-scorer in the tournament's history. With a remarkable tally of 1243 runs, he has surpassed the legendary Brian Lara, who previously held the record with 1225 runs. Rohit Sharma's consistency and ability to deliver in high-pressure situations have earned him this prestigious standing in the annals of ODI World Cup history.

 

In the ongoing 2023 edition of the ODI World Cup, Rohit Sharma has not only set records but has also emerged as the top scorer, amassing an impressive 265 runs. This achievement places him ahead of New Zealand's opening batter, Devon Conway, who had previously held the top spot with 249 runs. 

 

Not just this, India's batting juggernaut also became just the seventh Indian cricketer to surpass the milestone of 6,000 runs in One Day International (ODI) matches played in Asia.

Despite getting off to a patchy start to the World Cup where he was dismissed for a duck against Australia in the tournament opener, Rohit showcased his exceptional batting prowess in the match against Afghanistan, where he cracked a sensational 131 off 84 decorated with 16 fours and five sixes in Delhi. This remarkable display made him the first cricketer to achieve the milestone of seven centuries in the ODI World Cups.

Rohit Sharma continued his stellar form in the subsequent match against Pakistan in Ahmedabad, contributing an impeccable 86 runs from 63 deliveries, featuring 6 fours and 6 sixes.

 

Rohit didn't stop there as he followed it up with an impressive 48 off 40 in the match against Bangladesh while chasing a lowly total of 256/8.
