Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has strongly criticised ex-Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq following his controversial remarks during an event in a video that has now gone viral. Inzamam claimed that Harbhajan was on the verge of converting to Islam after being influenced by Maulana Tariq Jameel during an India-Pakistan series.

In an exclusive interview with India Today, Harbhajan slammed Inzamam, suggesting that he should seek medical attention for his mental state."I just want to say that someone should take Inzamam ul Haq to the doctor. He is not in the right mental state, please take him to the doctor. He is given odd statements. I am a Sikh and I am very happy to be born in a Sikh family," Harbhajan stated.

Taking a dig at Inzamam, Harbhajan said that the former Pakistan captain might have been under the influence of alcohol while making those statements. "All this drama that he is doing in front of the media, I don't know how he has decided to give all these statements. I don't know how drunk he is or what he smokes, and I am sure that whatever he says in that drunken state, he does not remember any of it the next morning," added Harbhajan.

In the referenced video, Inzamam made stunning claims that  Harbhajan Singh was close to converting to Islam after listening to Maulana Tariq Jameel. "We had a room where prayers were conducted. Maulana Tariq Jameel used to visit us in the evening and lead us into a namaz. After a few days, Irfan Pathan, Mohammad Kaif and Zaheer Khan also started coming. Four other Indian cricketers sat and watched us,” Inzamam said in a video that has been making rounds on social media.

“Harbhajan, who was unaware that Tariq Jameel was a maulana, said that ‘I am impressed with this man and want to follow his words".

Harbhajan took to x.com to slam the former skipper as he wrote, “Yeh kon sa nasha pee kar baat kar raha hai? I am a proud Indian and proud Sikh..yeh Bakwaas log kuch bi bakte hai (What is he smoking? I am a proud Indian and proud Sikh. These nonsense people say anything.)”

This incident follows a pattern of former Pakistani players making controversial comments about Indian personalities. On November 14, former Pakistan cricketer Abdul Razzaq made inappropriate remarks about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, later apologizing for his comments. The incident reflects a concerning trend of strained relations between cricketing figures from India and Pakistan.
