Former Australian cricketer Michael Hussey has lauded the Indian cricket team, praising the new generation of players for their indifferent attitude toward the past. Following a dominant victory over the Netherlands by 160 runs at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium, India continues its unbeaten streak in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023.

In an interview with Fox Cricket, Hussey expressed admiration for India's impressive squad, noting their comprehensive coverage across all aspects of the game. India's flawless performance includes nine consecutive wins in the league stage of the 2023 World Cup.

"India look great, don't they? Their squad looks amazing. They've got all the bases covered, really. They're playing with confidence. They look like they are loving it at the moment," remarked Hussey.

While acknowledging India as the team to beat, he emphasized the significance of seeing how they fare in the knockout stages. The upcoming semi-final against New Zealand on November 15 sets the stage for a rematch of the 2019 semi-finals.

"Obviously, they look like the team to beat, no question. For me, the question mark coming in was, could (India) handle that home pressure, playing in front of their home crowd and delivering. I still want to see them play in the knockout stage, where you lose, you go home. Does that change their mentality at all?" added Hussey.

Hussey highlighted the unique mindset of the current generation of Indian cricketers, emphasizing their lack of concern for past issues and their determination to create their own legacy. As India aims for their third ODI World Cup title and second on home soil, the focus remains on how the team handles the knockout pressures.

"My observation of this generation of players is they don't really care. They don't really care about the past. They're writing their own destiny. This new generation of Indian cricketers, they don't seem to worry about the old baggage or the old scars. They're trying to go out there and forge their own destiny," stated Hussey.

With India set to face New Zealand in the first semi-final in Mumbai, and Australia taking on South Africa in the second semi-final in Kolkata, the cricketing world eagerly anticipates the outcomes of these crucial matches in the World Cup.
