USA all-rounder Corey Anderson who used to represent Mumbai Indians (MI) revealed that he has a soft spot for India's pace bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. In IPL 2013, Bumrah made his debut for MI and Anderson was a crucial part of the squad as well. Anderson played for MI till 2014 and played a memorable knock to get them to playoffs. The two former teammates will take on each other when India face USA in their T20 World Cup 2024 group stage clash.
"I've got a bit of a soft spot for Bumrah. I think I was at Mumbai when he was first introduced to MI, and watching him develop from this raw natural talent to one of the best bowlers in the world has been amazing. It's cool to see that progress throughout, because you see the things they talk about early in their careers, and how they gain experience," Anderson said while speaking to Star Sports.
Bumrah is India's ace bowler across formats. He won 'Player of the match' awards in India's both group stage games against Ireland and India. He got the prized wicket of Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan in India’s thrilling six-run win.
"To watch him reach his potential is awesome. We're obviously going to come up against him, and he can do some serious damage. I think it's going to be extremely exciting to face him as well." The former New Zealand cricketer added.
