The old foes or call them arch-rivals, India and Pakistan will yet again lock horns with each other, this time in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 on June 9 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. This will be the second outing for both teams in the marquee event happening in the United States and West Indies. While India have won their opener clash against Ireland, Pakistan recently suffered an embarrassing defeat against co-hosts United States. Notably, both India and Pakistan have faced each other for seven times in the history of T20 World Cup. Here is what happened when India last faced Pakistan in T20 World Cup 2022 which was hosted by Melbourne Cricket Stadium in Australia.
When India last faced Pakistan in T20 World Cup
The India versus Pakistan's last T20 World Cup outing was in 2022 which was played at Melbourne ground in Australia. In that clash India chased down 159 runs against Pakistan where Virat Kohli was adjudged the Player of the Match for his unbeaten winning knock of 82 runs and helped Men in Blue won that nearly impossible clash by four wickets.

India lost 4 wickets for 34 runs
While chasing 160 runs India didn't get off to a good start as Pakistan pacers picked up KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma in quick succession and after that Suryakumar Yadav, Axar Patel followed suit and returned to the pavilion after scoring 15 and 2 runs respectively. India found themselves in a precarious position as they lost their four wickets for just 34 runs in 6.1 overs.
Virat Kohli pulled off an heist
Virat Kohli turned the match on its head as he stitched a crucial 113 runs partnership with Hardik Pandya for the fifth wicket to steady India's boat. However, Hardik got out after scoring 40 runs in 37 balls riding on a boundary and two sixes. After that Kohli single handedly took the match away from Pakistan with his match-winning yet unbeaten knock of 82 runs off 53 balls which was decorated with six boundaries and four maximums. This was arguably the best inning played by Kohli in the histor of sport.
