After suffering a 10-wicket defeat against Pakistan in their opening game of the Super 12, there have been plenty of questions over the team selection and Virat Kohli’s captaincy. Many current and former Indian cricketers think that the team that played against Pakistan wasn’t the winning combination. On the contrary, Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra feels that Kohli will not be making any changes to the team.

“I don’t think there will be any change in the playing XI against New Zealand. However, we might see some bowling changes from captain Kohli in the game. This time the captain will not allow the batters to build partnerships and will look for wickets in the crucial moments of the game. He will also strategise when to use which bowler in the game against which batter in order to get breakthroughs,” Mishra told Sports Tak.

On the other hand, the 38-year-old feels that the Indian spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Ravindra Jadeja were not attacking enough against Pakistan openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.

“Our spinners weren’t attacking in the entire game. Moreover, Pakistan batters were more dominant and attacking on the spinners. Be it the mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy or Ravindra Jadeja, each bowled normal deliveries. The most important thing was that they didn’t bowl any delivery to pick wickets. Both the spinners should have gone to for wicket-taking deliveries as they were defending an average total on a dew-stricken wicket,” the Delhi-born spinner explained.
