A day after Pakistan’s dominating performance over India in their first game in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Pakistan star skipper Babar Azam delivered a powerful speech inside the Pakistani dressing room.
The Babar Azam-led Pakistan team created history by breaking their jinx of losing to India in the World Cup by defeating Kohli & Co by 10-wickets.
Congratulating his team after the spectacular performance against their arch-rivals India, Azam warned his team from getting over-excited and focus on winning the T20 World Cup 2021 and repeat the 2009 feat.
In a video shared by the official handle of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Twitter, Azam can be seen reminding his team mates that the win was a collective effort and not a result of individual performances.
The video also saw former Pakistan legendary spinner and now the team’s interim head-coach Saqlain Mushtaq giving a rousing speech to the winning team.
“Look guys, this win was not a result of an individual performance. We gave a complete team performance and we do not have to let go of this. This is just a start, enjoy it, but do not get over-excited after beating India. We need to look ahead and our focus is to win the T20 World Cup. We will never be relaxed, just look to give your 100 percent. Please, do not get over-excited.We have a habit of being inconsistent, but, please do not do this. We have to change this and it will hopefully. Well done boys for the win against India,” the Pakistan skipper said.
Pakistan had a comfortable win over India as they defeated the Kohli-led team India by 10-wickets in the shortest format.
Asked to chase down a 152-run target, openers Babar Azam with his unbeaten 68 and Mohammad Rizwan 79 not out made sure that the ‘Men in Green’ achieved the target without any difficulty.
