After an embarrasing defeat at the hands of arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday, good news has come India’s way ahead of their next game against New Zealand to be played on October 31. Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is fit for the match after hurting his shoulder during the opening game against the ‘Men in Green’.
According to the ANI reports, the Baroda player is feeling better and the scans were part of the precautionary measure by the team management.
Pandya had been taken for scans after hurting his shoulder during the game against Pakistan. The star player had also failed to field in the second innings and Ishan Kishan was called as substitute fielder.
“Hardik Pandya was hit on his right shoulder while batting. He has now gone for scans,” the BCCI’s media had informed.
Coming in to bat at no.7, Pandya had scored 11 runs from eight deliveries including two boundaries but was seen having slight discomfort during his innings against Pakistan.
There were fitness issues that have prevented Pandya from bowling of late. He has not bowled a single ball in competitive cricket since July. He was expected to play as the sixth bowler at some point in the tournament.
Before India began their campaign against Pakistan, Pandya had said that he should be fit to bowl at some point in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Earlier skipper Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma had backed the Baroda all-rounder amidst questions raised on the 28-year-old’s fitness.
