‘He should have used his head’: Shahid Afridi on Shaheen getting hit for 3 consecutive sixes

Following Pakistan’s five-wicket defeat against Australia in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2021 on November 11, former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi slammed Shaheen Shah Afridi for conceding three consecutive sixes against Matthew Wade. The former all-rounder believes that the Shaheen should have used his pace sensibly and tried bowling yorkers outside off stump.

"I am not happy with Shaheen in one area. Okay, so Hasan Ali dropped a catch but that does not mean you will bowl badly and get hit for three successive sixes," Afridi told Samaa TV Channel.

"Shaheen has so much pace and he should have used it sensibly. Even if the catch was dropped, he should have used his head and tried to bowl outside off stump fast yorkers with his pace. He is not that sort of bowler to be hit like that," the 44-year-old added.

However, the former right-handed batter is hopeful that Shaheen will learn from the experience and will come good in the future.

"I would say he was brilliant in the tournament and I have only seen either Wasim Bhai or perhaps Mohammad Amir bowl like this with the new ball. He is giving good performances. I hope he learns from this cricket experience and prepares himself for the future," Afridi lauded the 21-year-old.

Despite removing Australia's captain Aaron Finch in the first over, the left-arm pacer conceded 35 runs in his four overs. However, there's no denying that the left-arm bowler had set the tone for the Men in Green from the Super 12 stage in the first match against the arch-rivals India by dismissing both openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, as well as skipper Virat Kohli.
