Ravindra Jadeja finally made a serious impact with a ball in the T20 World Cup 2021 with a three-fer against minnows Scotland. Jadeja was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his performance that helped India bundle out Scotland for 85 and register a massive win to boost their net run rate. Content with his team’s performance, Jadeja said in the post-match presentation said that if the team plays like this, no one can beat them.
“We were looking to play good brand of cricket. Everybody knows that we had to win with a big margin for us to up our net run-rate, we were looking to play our best game and give our 100% on the field. Everybody's happy, one more game to go, hopefully we play like this. If we play like this, nobody can beat us. In T20 format, we have to play like this, that is for sure, the all-rounder said.
The left-arm spinner took three wickets and conceded just 15 runs in his four overs. However, he picked the wicket of Scotland veteran Richie Berrington as his favourite of the night.
“I was enjoying bowling on this track today. The odd ball was turning, I was enjoying very much. The first one (Berrington's wicket) was a special one, whenever you get a batsman out with a turning ball, that's always special,” the 32-year-old said.
Jadeja was handed the ball by Virat Kohli right after the the powerplay overs. The off-spinner got the wicket of Berrington and Matthew Cross in the same over to push Scotland on the back foot. Scotland batters could not recover from the batting collapse and kept losing wickets. Later in the innings, he got the wicket of in-form Michael Leask as well. Leask played a cameo of 21 off 12 balls. Two of Jadeja’s wickets were leg before wicket as the ball skidded on to batters pads making it tough for them to fend it away.
