Pakistan skipper and star batter Babar Azam has been in sublime form in the ongoing T20 World Cup. His brilliant batting display against India has earned him immense respect and praise but the 27-year-old batter feels he still needs to be more consistent.

Babar, in a recent interaction with the ICC, has said that it was his dream to be liked by everyone as a cricketer. He also said that he always tries to keep fans happy by winning matches for Pakistan.

“I always wanted to be the top player, when I was young it was my dream to be someone who’s liked and backed by everyone as a cricketer. I’m still in that quest and trying to be more consistent and improve my performance," the prolific batter said in the video published by ICC.

“I’m always focused on my goal. They always expect us to perform in every game and I draw confidence from that. I always aim to keep my fans happy and satisfied with my performances and help Pakistan win matches,” he further said.

Pakistan can’t be complacent

Pakistan have made it three in three by brushing aside India, New Zealand, and Afghanistan. They are currently sitting at the top of the Group B table with six points. The Pakistan skipper has been brilliant with the bat so far, notching up two fifties in two out of three matches.

“In a tournament like this, we will have to be at our best in every game and perform with consistency, we can’t be complacent at any stage against any team because the moment you give a bit of margin to your opponent, they will be in a position to snatch the game away from you, so we will have to be at our best,” he concluded.
