Sehwag to Vaughan: Former cricketers come hard after India’s loss against New Zealand

India faced a second consecutive humiliating loss in the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup. Following India’s loss against New Zealand on Sunday, the cricket fraternity lashed out at the Indian team over their dismal show against the Kiwis.

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag showed his disappointment after watching India’s body language. The star opener, believes India is unofficially out of the ongoing T20 World Cup.

“Very disappointing from India. NZ were amazing. India’s body language wasn’t great, poor shot selection & like few times in the past, New Zealand have virtually ensured we won’t make it to the next stage. This one will hurt India & time for some serious introspection #IndvsNZ,” Sehwag tweeted after India’s loss.

Along with Sehwag, former batter, VVS Laxman also felt the same. He said that is very difficult for the Men in Blue to make it to the last four in this World Cup.

“This defeat should hurt Team India. Tentative with the bat, their shot selection was questionable. New Zealand bowled superbly, but India made their task easier. With their net run rate also taking a beating, a semifinal spot looks a distant dream #IndvsNZ #T20WorldCup,” Laxman wrote on his Twitter account.

Former all-rounder Irfan Pathan also questioned the Indian team composition.

“In any big tournament you can’t change the playing 11 in just one game and get desired results. Players need stability And I’m surprised this is happening with some big names taking decisions #ind,” Pathan penned down on his official Twitter handle.

Moreover, former England skipper Michael Vaughan took a jibe at the Indian team for their performance.

“India should take a leaf out of all other countries … Allow their players to play in other leagues around the World to gain experience … #IndvsNZ #T20WorldCup,” Vaughan wrote on Twitter.

Apart from this, Pakistan batter Azar Ali feels India’s early exit isn’t good for the tournament.

“It’s not looking good for India.. but we all want India to stay in the tournament. This early exit of India won’t be good for the event #IndvsNZ #T20WorldCup,” Azar wrote on Twitter.

India aren’t officially out of the tournament. Their hopes for the final 4 are still alive, provided they win all the three remaining matches against Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia. Though it won’t guarantee their qualification for the next stage as they still have to rely on the other teams' matches in Group 2.
