India’s head coach Ravi Shastri has reached Dubai ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup, which begins from October 17 in the UAE.
Shastri has reached ahead of the other coaching and support staff, who will reach UAE on October 7 and will quarantine for 6-days. Shastri was supposed to leave with rest of the coaching staff on October 7, but reached earlier to shoot for a documentary movie. He will join the rest of the coaching staff on October 13 after their quarantine ends.
The coaches will be joined by Indian players barring the players, who will appear for the IPL final on October 15 for the upcoming T20 World Cup camp.
India will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan on October 24. It will be India’s last tournament under Virat Kohli’s captaincy in T20I and the last assignment for Shastri as a coach with team India. Ravi will step down from the coaching role after the mega event.
Shastri had tested Covid positive during the fourth Test of the England-India series at The Oval and went on to miss the Manchester Test, which was later called off after a Covid case in the Indian contingent. This will be the first time Shastri will meet the team post their controversial end of the England-India Test series.
