With few hours to go for the much-anticipated of the ICC T20 World Cup between arch-rivals India and Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai, fans are gearing up to don their team’s jersey and players are ready with their plans for the big game.
The toss will be a crucial factor in the evening game because of dew which will make it tough for bowlers to execute their plans. Indian skipper Virat Kohli has not had much luck with the coin toss over the years. However, legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar advises Kohli to field first if he manages to get lucky against Babar Azam.
“The captain who will win the toss, would want to field first. India doesn’t defend well in the T20 cricket. They are good in chasing. India would want to begin with a win. They would want to win the toss and chase,” Gavaskar told Aaj Tak.
The last time the two teams met in the 2019 ICC World Cup in Manchester, India comfortably defeated Pakistan in a rain-curtailed match. Both the captains ahead of the big game have exuded confidence and ruled out the importance of the past records against each other. Nevertheless, the records are clearly in India’s favour with 12 wins out of 12 games against the arch-rivals in the World Cup events, winning on seven occasions in the 50-overs World Cup and five times at the T20 World Cup.
