The much-anticipated Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2024 is ready to commence on January 19 in South Africa. As a significant event in the cricket calendar, the ICC Under-19 World Cup draws attention to its display of young talent and future cricket stars. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has meticulously laid out the tournament's schedule, featuring team groupings, match dates, and venue details. This year marks the third time South Africa has been selected as the host nation, previously hosting the tournaments in 1998 and 2020, which saw England and Bangladesh emerge as champions, respectively.
In the lead-up to the main event, the participating teams will engage in warm-up matches from January 13 to January 17. The tournament brings together 16 teams from around the world, divided into four groups. These teams will compete across 41 matches, each vying for the prestigious title.
India, the defending champions, find themselves in a challenging Group A alongside past winners Bangladesh and two rapidly progressing teams, Ireland and the United States. Group B, labeled as the 'group of death', features a competitive lineup with cricket powerhouses such as England, South Africa, and West Indies, joined by Scotland.
Group C sees another set of strong contenders with teams like Australia and Sri Lanka, known for their cricketing prowess. Completing the group division, New Zealand and Pakistan, both with a rich cricketing heritage, have been placed in Group D.
