Indian women’s team under the leadership of Mithali Raj will start their ICC Women’s ODI World Cup journey against arch-rivals Pakistan. This is likely to be veteran batter's last World Cup. Ahead of the high voltage clash against, here's a look at number of records that belong to Mithali.

 

Mithali's multiple records

The Jodhpur-born batter will play her sixth World Cup which is a record in women's cricket. Mithali started her World Cup journey in 2000 edition of the mega event.


Mithali has played most number of ODIs (225) in women's cricket. No other player has crossed the 200-mark. Her teammate Jhulan Goswami is most likely to become the second to achieve the feat as she needs to play five more ODIs to reach 200.


The run machine of women's cricket, Mithali has scored 7,623 runs in the format which is the most by any batter. at an average of 51.85. The next batter on the list, former England cricketer Charlotte Edwards has 5,992 runs from 191 ODIs.


The 39-year-old also holds the record for most fifty-plus scores in the format. She has 69 fifty-plus scores in the 50-over format which includes 62 half-centuries and seven centuries. Once again, the second batter on the list is England's Charlotte. This record is likely to be remain unbroken for a few years at least.


Mithali made her debut on June 26, 1999. Opening the innings she also became the youngest batter (16 years and 205 days) to score an ODI century. She scored 114 on her ODI debut.

 

The veteran batter has also played most consecutive ODIs (109) in the period between April 17, 2004 and February 07, 2013.

 

The Indian skipper has played most matches as a captain (148). On this list, she is followed by Charlotte as well. The English batter has played 117 ODIs as captain.


She also holds the record for most ODIs won by a captain (86). In the win department, she is followed by former Australian captain Belinda Clark who has led her side to 83 wins out of 101 ODIs.
