Indian skipper Mithali Raj and opener Smriti Mandhana have slipped a couple of places in the latest ICC women's ODI batter rankings. While Mithali has slipped to fourth position after a nine-run knock against Pakistan in Women's World Cup 2022, Smriti slipped to 10th position despite a 75-ball 52.
Smriti has 670 points, 18 less than ninth-placed South Africa batter Lizelle Lee. Mithali has slightly less ground to cover as she is seven points short of England's Tammy Beaumont (725 points).
On the other hand, veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami maintained her fourth position in the bowling rankings. Jhulan took two wickets for 26 runs in the previous game.
In the all-rounder rankings, Deepti Sharma is on the sixth spot with 310 points as she slipped one position despite a 40-run knock and one wicket against arch-rivals Pakistan. Deepti got rid of Pakistan skipper Bismah Maroof in India’s campaign opener.
All-rounder Sneh Rana and Pooja Vastrakar moved to their respective career positions too after a record 122-run stand between them that helped India post a fighting total on the board. Pooja rose to the 64th spot whereas Sneh is yet to enter top 100.
While Indian players have taken a hit in rankings, Australian skipper Meg Lanning climbed two spots to occupy second position in batter's rankings. She has 15 points less than wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy, who scored a half-century against Pakistan on March 8. Lanning registered an 86-run knock against England.
The England vs Australia match caused a major reshuffle in the batter’s rankings. Australian opener Rachael Haynes and England middle-order batter Natalie Sciver broke into the top 10 with respective centuries. Rachael scored 130 whereas Natalie scored an unbeaten 109 where Australia emerged winners by 12 runs. The Aussie opener is now on the seventh spot whereas the English batter is in sixth position.
West Indies' Hayley Matthews also rose through the ranks in each department after a blockbuster World Cup opening match against hosts New Zealand.
She scored 119 which helped the Caribbean post 119 followed by two key wickets of Amelia Kerr and Brooke Halliday. She is now ranked 20th in batter's rankings, no.4 in all-rounder's list and no.10 in bowler's rankings.
